Salvador Malo earned his BS in Physics from UNAM and
a doctorate in the same discipline from Imperial
College, University of London.
Early in his career he worked for ten years in the
Mexican Petroleum Institute. It was subsequently
incorporated into the Ministry of Education, where
he launched several programs for academic
excellence, the development of research and graduate
studies in the Mexican state public universities.
Then, he successively held the positions of General
Secretary, Administrative Secretary and Secretary of
Planning at the Mexico National University UNAM. In
2002 was director of the National Center for
Assessment in Higher Education, later was director
of human capital in the Mexican Institute for
Competitiveness. Also, he occupied the General
Directorate position of the National Board for
Certification of Competency (CONOCER) and today, he
is the General Director of Higher Education at the
Ministry of Education.
In addition to the above, at international level, he
was a member of the Trilateral Group for Higher
Education in North America, president of the North
American Consortium for Higher Education, a member
of the Board of the Mexico United States Foundation
for Science, leader 6x4 UEALC international projects
and Innova Cesal on higher education in Latin
America, a member of the External Board of the
National Agency of Spain for the Assessment and
Accreditation of Quality of Higher education and
specialist consultant for the OECD international
assessment higher education.
He is the author of numerous papers and essays and
has given hundreds of lectures on higher education,
scientific research, evaluation of education and
skills.
